New Buffalo Railroad Museum

Located on the grounds of what was once the largest train yard in Southwest Michigan, the New Buffalo Railroad Museum is home to exhibits and collections recalling New Buffalo`s proud heritage as a railroad hub for both the Pere Marquette and Chesapeake & Ohio (also known as the Chessie System). The rail line behind the Museum still carries CSX freight trains through the stanchions of one of the original coal towers. Visitors can stroll through the Chessie Box Car and Troop Pullman Sleeper Car. Everyone can operate the hand-crafted model train layout that delights visitors of all ages. Admission is FREE

Heston Steam Museum

Hesston Steam Museum is an outdoor museum operated by the Laporte County Historical Steam Society in Hesston, Indiana. The museum occupies 155 acres and is the home of four different gauge railroads along with numerous other pieces of steam powered and vintage farm equipment.

Elsie Earl Studios

Elsie Earl Studios is a community art center located in Frohne Hall next door to St. John`s UCC Church. It was opened in Spring of 2017 by Loretta (Rett) Friend. It is named for her parents, Elsie and Earl, who were always very supportive of her artistic endeavors. Elsie was a systems analyst for the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. and enjoyed ballroom dancing. Earl was a professional musician with the U.S. Navy Band. He played the French Horn, helped form the Sea Chanters and directed them for a year, played in local dance bands, and taught guitar.

Washington Park Zoo

The Washington Park Zoo is a zoo located in Washington Park, Michigan City, Indiana, which covers 15 acres on a hilly sand dune close to the southeastern tip of Lake Michigan. The park and zoo were listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
