The Grand Retreat

Welcome to The Grand Retreat, a beautiful home just a short walk to a private beach, and another great home offered by Third Coast Vacations, full-service vacation rentals by locals who love Harbor Country. 

The home itself is just steps away from Lake Michigan and is situated on a quiet and wooded lot. Step through the door into the large and open main living room full of vintage cottage charm! There is a fire pit in the back yard to enjoy as well, as well as a golf cart to help you get to the beach, the local 9 hold golf course or to the huge public park nearby with basketball, tennis, and more. 

Curl up on one of the cozy sofas with a good book or take a nap after a day at the beach or on the golf course. Comfortable beds in 3 spacious bedrooms ensure that everyone will receive a wonderful night's rest from the day's adventures.

When you enter the home you’ll find a spacious and semi-open living area that starts with a cozy living room and flows into a dining room, and an eat in kitchen. Down the hall you’ll find three tastefully decorated bedrooms, two with Queen beds and one room with Full-sized bunks, a trundle and a crib that’s perfect for the kids. 

There are two bathrooms in the home, a larger one off the hallway near the bedrooms and another off the screen porch and kitchen area. Off the kitchen, at the back of the home is a large screen porch that opens to the firepit area and the back of the home. Off the dining room is a deck with a large outdoor dining area and a gas grill. 

There is one security camera facing outward from the garage.

Does the home have a golf cart?
Yes! It does, and while at the property, you are welcome to use it. Licensed drivers are allowed to operate the cart, but please remember to plug it back in to charge when not in use. Additionally, the cart must remain within the Grand Beach area and should not be driven on Ponchartrain Drive, as the steep hills will cause it to overheat. If towing is required from Ponchartrain, you will be responsible for the towing fee.

Where is the nearest beach and can we drive the golf cart to it?
You can drive the cart to the beach at the corner of Wildwood Rd and Lake View Ave, which is just 2/10 of a mile from the property, near the end of Royal Ave and Lake View. There are four other beaches nearby in the neighborhood, but their availability can vary, as beach conditions change each year and season due to the lake’s natural fluctuations. Some beaches may open or close depending on the water levels and shoreline changes. Please reach out to us for the most up-to-date beach conditions—we’re happy to help!

Grill
There is a propane grill available for your use, and we supply the propane.

Can we have an outdoor fire?
Yes, the property has a fire pit for your use.

Indoor hot tub? 
Yes, there is a hot tub in the three season porch!  It is fantastic.  You will need to open a window to allow for moisture to escape when the cover is off but otherwise, you can use it like any other hot tub.

Unfortunately, no. There is no connecting neighborhood road to downtown, and the city of New Buffalo does not allow non-street-legal golf carts on public roads. The golf cart must remain within the neighborhood, and driving it outside of this area could result in a ticket.

There is a Keurig in the kitchen.

Parking
There is parking for four car in the driveway maximum please. No street parking is allowed on Royal Ave.
