Wake up early and spend the day exploring some of the best fall hiking in Southwest Michigan. Start at Galien River County Park in New Buffalo Township, where an elevated canopy walkway leads through the treetops to an overlook above the Galien River. It's an especially beautiful stop when the fall colors begin to change. Ready for a longer hike? Head north to Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer for miles of trails through wooded dunes and sweeping views of Lake Michigan. For something quieter, Warren Woods State Park offers a peaceful walk beneath towering beech and maple trees. After a day outside, make your way back through Sawyer or Three Oaks for dinner, drinks and a little exploring before returning to your vacation home.

SUNDAY — SLOW DOWN BEFORE HEADING HOME

Make the most of your final morning in Harbor Country with breakfast and one last dose of fresh air.
