This home has been completely renovated and has all new everything as of late May 2023. The bright and airy home sits in the heart of Downtown New Buffalo and is an easy walk to New Buffalo Beach, the Stray Dog, Beer Church, and all that this lovely lakeshore town has to offer.
When you enter the home you’ll step into a large, open floor plan with lots of natural light. The living flows into the dining room which connects to the kitchen over a bar with seating for 2. Off to the right of the main living area are 2 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a Queen bed and en suite bathroom and offers access to the back deck through a sliding door.
The second upstairs bedroom sleeps 3 in a full bed and twin bed. There is also a bathroom between these two bedrooms.
Head downstairs to a second living room with a TV and cozy seating. Off this secondary living space are two more bedrooms and a bathroom. The back basement bedroom has a full bed and a twin bed and the front basement bedroom features a Queen bed.
The back of the home is relaxing and private, with a large deck and fenced in backyard that is perfect for a pets, kids, and yard games!
How far away is the public beach?
The beach is 6/10 of a mile to the New Buffalo Public Beach so you can walk or drive and park. Please note that there is a fee to park and they do take cards.

Can’t rave enough about the house and the host, Third Coast Vacations. Jon replied within minutes of a text and we even received a weather alert from them when the bad storm was approaching. What a big help all the fans in every room was, as humid as it was all week, when we were not in a pool or on the beach, the fans kept us very very comfortable in the house. Big yard for the dog to chase his ball and get exercise when not chasing squirrels up the tree. When traveling with older kids, first thing they looked for was bean bags to play or any other yard games. Laundry room had great big washer and dryer for laundry and plenty of detergent. It was a perfect fit for our family. The basement allowed our granddaughter and her family to have some privacy. Loved the fenced in yard for the dogs. We've been to New Buffalo several times and this was, by far, the best house in the best location. We traveled with 8 people (3 adults, 4 teenage girls, 1 pre-teen boy), and the room setup turned out to fit our needs perfectly. It was only a few blocks to the downtown shopping area, restaurants (Oink's ice cream!), and a lovely (not-too-long) walk to the beach. The home was beyond clean and well appointed. It had clearly been nicely updated with well thought out details (even the shower doors were soft close). The complimentary packets of toiletries, laundry detergent, and kitchen necessities (sponge, dish soap, etc) were a nice touch and much appreciated. We made use of the games and beach towels. Communication from the host was timely, clear, and thorough and answered all of our questions ahead of time. We would not hesitate to rent through Third Coast in the future. My husband even commented on our second day how perfect it was and said we needed to reserve it again for next year. (The only 2 things that could be improved upon -- but were minor so I did not let them affect my 5-star rating -- were the grill and the ventilation. The grill was rusted enough that we weren't comfortable using it (burgers on the stove!). The 2 upstairs bedrooms were much warmer compared to the rest of the home (which I'm sure is only because of the age of the home). Those sleeping downstairs were wrapped in blankets and those upstairs had fans on high speed.) All in all, a wonderful stay!Angela - Posted: 8/1/2026

Great little house that’s not so little. Awesome location with no need to drive anywhere. The house was stocked with all we needed. The Barker House went above and beyond our expectations. The home is located on a street that is very peaceful and in a beautiful neighborhood yet extremely walkable to everything in downtown New Buffalo including the beach. The layout of the home is perfect for a large family as there are three full bathrooms and the lower level is a completely private part of the home with 2 additional bedrooms with one of the full baths and a large common area with TV. The fenced in backyard was so much fun for our dog. The deck had plenty of seating for the entire family. The kitchen was fully stocked to allow us to cook meals in but loved that there was such a variety of restaurants very near by. Third Coast Vacations and Dan were super responsive to our inquiries both prior to our stay and during our stay. The house and location was fantastic; however we had a problem with the AC not cooling the main level. We inquired about that and Third Coast immediately sent a staff member out to assess. It was a Sunday so they could not get an HVAC technician out, so they very generously moved us to another property. We were not expecting this at all and were very happy and grateful for the very proactive service from Third Coast. Having 3 full bathrooms was a plus. And the location was perfect. We could walk to the beach, restaurants, town. Loved being able to walk almost everywhere - including the beach and restaurants. If you’re looking for a long weekend, I highly recommend this spot! It is right next to the main strip of New Buffalo! Everything is within walking distance! The house fit all of the ladies without issue. It was clean, organized, and welcoming. We had a very minor issues and the staff at Third Coast responded to my texts immediately. I loved having 24 hour staff. The backyard is great for games and hanging out. If I had to leave one complaint it would be the beds are pretty stiff for my liking. Great location - walkable to downtown New Buffalo's restraunts and bars. House is updated and clean. There was a noticeable smell of stale cigarette smoke but we opened the windows to let fresh air in. Nice back deck. We connected with a local Uber driver, Kel who was recommended in the helpful house guest/guide book. He was fantastic! We had a great stay at Dan’s place. The home was clean, updated and came with all the basics as well as a few additional nice to haves (ie. Kids cups, utensils and plates, ice in freezer, extra beach towels accessible, etc). We loved the backyard and the fire pit at night, and the patio was great for enjoying breakfast and coffee outside on. Was also nice to have 2 sitting areas inside house so we could have kids watching a movie and adults sitting upstairs and not feel too crowded all on one set of couches.
